This was a great book - wich I say as an African myself, who has been reading SF since 1966, and who is an avid aficionado of the short story form of the genre.Seriously: the very varied content and styles of the stories, the reflections of future Africa, were hugely inspiring. And I would encourage any serious fan of SF to dip into this offering. I really enjoyed picking up on the Africa I know - central and south - being served up to me as new and fresh, right down to the slang and the kinds of characters I have known for so many years.
I'm looking forward to the next one B-)

Afrosf Science Fiction by African Writers Nnedi Okorafor Sarah Lotz Ivor W Hartmann Books Reviews
An excellent read with some really inspiring shorts. If you are into African and Sci Fi - this collection really meets it in a fully contemporary way.
This collection is gives you a sense of what science fiction writers in Africa are thinking about and how they are imagining the future, but the quality of the stories really varies a lot--for many of the writers, this is their first publication. Still many of the visions of the future are compelling.
Huge range of story topics from a huge swath of writers. I loved reading this and now will look for so many more writers in the bookstore!
Typical science fiction stories, but with the twist of an African flavor, rhythm and point of view. Worth reading, because that African point of view is pretty rare in science fiction stories. The themes are often about oppression and slavery, not surprisingly.
This is an extraordinary collection of short stories. I have not finished the volume yet. I'm a bit more than halfway through and every single story is outstanding. If you enjoy world sci fi and think you might want to try this one, I would recommend it. As a warning, it's fairly dystopian (so far) but there's an edge of hope and much beauty here.
Afrofuturism and Speculative fiction is making great strides in the African Diaspora and Continental African literature.
The first of its kind, but it is to be hoped, not the last such anthology. The stories are varied and fascinating, as well as a wonderful melding of science fiction and the magnificent continent of Africa. College and university courses in SF should have it as a central ingredient; while the ordinary SF reader will thoroughly enjoy it. Highly recommended and i should say I'm not easily pleased, since I teach both African literature and SF at tertiary level and am very often critical of quality. This book most successfully brings these two strands together.
